I WISH YOU WERE HERE

The Invisible Dragon

I have a dragon inside of me

He jumps in my mouth when I want to be free

He grabs at my throat when I want to speak

He makes me so scared that I feel very weak

You can’t see my dragon coz he’s deep down inside

But he makes me so nervous; all I want to do is hide

I wish that I could speak to you – I wish I had the choice

But the dragon inside of me has snatched away my voice

When you ask a question and all l want to do is answer you

When you call my name and make me think about  you

I simply can’t answer – my throats too tight

Coz my dragon says “BOO” and I jump with fright

It really makes me sad; all I want to do is cry

Coz I’d love to be your friend if I wasn’t so shy

So if my face doesn’t smile when you ask me to play

It’s because this pesky dragon just won’t go away

RAILA ODINGA:The merchant of violence

We owe it to ourselves to examine closely those figures that our political leaders and those that aspire to lead us cosy up with in public and also in private. Just as birds of identical plumage flock in close proximity, a man’s character can also be judged from the company that he keeps. Raila Odinga  is a political schizophrenic. His rhetoric oozes with refined contemporary democracy dogma, but his actions reveal a very violent and dictatorial streak. The exorbitant nature of his obsessive preoccupation with violence is rivalled by a few in modern day Africa. His proclivity for violence can be traced to his student days. As a youth, Raila Odinga, whose father served as deputy president of Kenya under Jomo Kenyatta, was given a scholarship to study in the then East Germany. He studied engineering. However, his choice of his undergraduate thesis is not only revealing but also a source of great perturbation. His thesis focused on bomb-making with special focus on nail bomb...

Closing Of Baite TV. Over time concerns have been raised on the professionalism and the ethics of the media station. Although the station might be popular with the people and can also be classified as a populist media station they seem to have overlooked fundamental media ethics.

Over the last few years Baite TV has grown to be one of the most viewed TV stations in the Larger Meru region spanning all the way to Tharaka Nithi and Embu counties. The TV station has maintained some loyal die-hard fan base despite its unorthodox way of reporting. Over time concerns have been raised on the professionalism and the ethics of the media station. Although the station might be popular with the people and can also be classified as a populist media station they seem to have overlooked fundamental media ethics. In my analysis I find the following misconducts emanating from the media station. Accuracy and fairness It is no secret that the station is owned and run in close supervision by the Meru Women County Rep, Kawira Mwangaza. It is no crime to own and run a media house but it is crime to break the laws and ethics concerning journalism and reporting. In the Code of Conduct for the Practice of Journalism as entrenched in the Second Schedule of the Med...
